Settings: Skills

Skills are instruction packs that teach Row-Bot how to approach a kind of work. Some work with an app, such as GitHub: the skill's card says Works with GitHub, and its page says whether that app is connected, with a way to open or connect it. Settings › Skills works like Settings › Apps: one library to find skills and one page per skill.

Where To Find It​

Open Settings, then choose Skills in the Capabilities group, or search for it with Find a setting. The command palette's Add a skill opens it too.

Find A Skill​

Search by name or by the job, such as "pdf". Search is instant and local; nothing you type leaves this computer. Search online catalogs also asks the live catalogs, such as ClawHub, and sends them your search words. The page lists Your skills first, then Featured and All skills. Add from link or file adds a skill from a skill page, a GitHub repository, or a .zip or .skill file; nothing is fetched until you agree on the skill's page.

The Skill Page​

  • Use it in chat with /name shows the slash command that loads it.
  • Settings says whether chats use it ("Available in every chat without a profile." or "Turned off: chats don't use it.") and which agent profiles include it. To change which profiles use a skill, edit the profile's skills; see Profiles, Goals, And Agents.
  • What's inside (collapsed) lists its files and scripts, for example "6 files · 1 script", and marks each script. Scripts never run when you add a skill; if Row-Bot runs one later, your approval rules apply.
  • Try it opens a new chat with a draft that uses the skill. The draft stays in the composer; nothing is sent until you send it.
  • The ⋯ menu has Turn off, Advanced settings, Check for updates for a skill from a catalog, and Remove… for a skill you added or created.

Add A Skill​

Add opens Add skill, which says where it downloads from and that it "Adds the skill and turns it on". Agree, and Row-Bot checks the skill's files and adds it. Scripts inside a skill never run when it is added.

A skill changes instructions only. It does not add credentials, grant tools that an agent profile denies, or skip approvals.

Use A Skill In Chat​

Type / in a chat and choose the skill from the Skills group. Chosen in an empty message, it turns the skill on for the whole chat; chosen inside a message, it focuses only that turn on it. See Mention an app or a skill.

Turn Off Or Remove A Skill​

  • ⋯ › Turn off stops chats using the skill and keeps it; Turn on brings it back.
  • ⋯ › Remove… deletes the skill's files from this computer. Skills built into Row-Bot can be turned off but not removed, and a skill that came with a package is turned off or removed with its package.

Create Or Edit A Skill​

Create a skill opens the skill editor for a new skill. On a skill's page, ⋯ › Advanced settings opens the editor for that one skill, where you edit it, pin it, and review proposed changes to it.

Troubleshooting​

  • If a skill is never used, check that it is in Your skills, try it with /name, and make your request match its purpose.
  • If a skill is used too eagerly, edit it with clearer boundaries or remove it.
